When somebody cancels on me, I don't know what to do with myself! I have booked that time and I'm looking forward to going out and shooting. So I will frequently go out and bring the tripod. That way I can take self portraits, which is better than staying home, isn't it?
Nowadays I require 50% down ahead of time so I don't get quite as many cancellations. I do make exceptions at times, for example one guy was going to propose to his girlfriend and another photographer canceled at the last minute. He called me with just a couple of hours to spare, and it all worked out!
